What are some instruments that has origins in the United States?

i;m not looking for stuff that was brought over from europe and made popular here, or Native American instruments.

i;m looking for musical instruments that were invented by americans

The 5-stringed banjo is generally regarded as American in origin. Of course, it evolved from an earlier 4 string instrument with African roots..... but the modern 5-string banjo is definitely American

The pedal steel guitar is also American. Again, it evolved from the Hawaiian slide guitar (well, Hawaii is part of the US now!) The addition of pedals and levers made the pedal steel truly American.....it's also a fascinating instrument because it's still evolving. The first pedal steels were designed in the 1950's. They're a hybrid of instrument and machine. As new technical innovations allow for more complex changer mechanisms, new tunings, levers and pedals are being experimented with. I hesitate to mention the electric guitar because I'm not sure you can classify it as a completely different instrument from the acoustic guitar. Americans were the first to electrify the guitar, then a few years later Leo Fender and Les Paul were the first to pioneer "solid body" electric guitars.

The Dobro or Resonator guitar was first designed and manufactured in the US. Like the electric guitar, they bear similarities to the standard acoustic but have innovations that make them unique.
